This term of courses is half over for students and soon enough summer will be here. 
It’s hard to believe that it has been almost a year since I completed the Doctoral program with University of Fairfax. Since then, I have been doing as expected with my career goals and have begun teaching at two online colleges.
Today is the first session for a 5 week Intro to Computer Security class and I couldn’t be more excited!
So far it looks like none of the new students have googled their way here yet.. 
I’m at CSO Perspectives this week in Naples, Florida. So far the conference has been good and I’ve been networking with the other security executives in attendance.
I have been able to connect with some good contacts on available teaching positions and have shared some of my ideas for articles that would fit this audience.
Unfortunately, like most, the conference is indoors where the rooms lack windows. The weather here is beautiful with temperatures in the upper 80′s. Maybe next year there will be consideration for beach or pool side sessions.
Looking forward to the remaining sessions and talking more with other executives about information security concerns that affect their organizations.

There is cause for celebration this weekend.. I successfully defended Friday afternoon.

Teaching, writing articles, starting a few companies, and entertaining offers to speak…

On to the next chapter ….
Defense is Friday and I just got back my quality review comments… Just a few things needed a quick tweak to meet newer apa 6th edition and I should be good to go for “publishing”.
Also updated the slides I will be using for defense.
Hopefully all will go smoothly on Friday and I will be eating dinner as Dr. Turek!
Completed preparation of my presentation for my Dissertation Defense which is scheduled for March 18th @ 3pm.
Shane and I headed down to Mt. Vernon last night for Tech Cocktail. We had a good time checking out some of those who setup a little “booth” to showcase their products and ideas. Looking forward to more networking events like this in the Baltimore area!

Review… My Defense date is still tbd.
